It all started in my hometown, Milan, when I was a little kid. During those years, my grandma used to babysit me after school while my parents were at work. We would spend the whole afternoon together, either riding bicycles in the neighborhood’s park or cooking dinner for the family. It was my favorite time of the day.
One of my grandma’s biggest passions were shoes, and we would often go shopping together in the beautiful boutiques in the fashion district of Milan. However, we almost always returned home empty-handed.
This is because my grandma had wide feet in size 12, and it was difficult for her to find shoes. She was a very youthful and beautiful woman, who refused to wear the bulky, ugly comfort shoes sold in specialty stores. She wanted attractive and sophisticated items, as seen everywhere in the fashion capital of the world.
I still vividly remember the look on her face when she kept trying on pairs after pairs for hours, hoping that they would somehow fit her this time. But they rarely did. The shop assistant would regularly say apologetic words, explaining that the store didn’t carry special-sizes.
The frustration and sadness on my grandma’s face were unacceptable to me. Therefore, during one of those afternoons, I decided that one day I was going to create beautiful and comfortable shoes in her size.
Approximately 20 years later, my grandma passed away in 2015. Soon after, I started this company and named it after her, with the mission of bringing gorgeous shoes to women with feet of all sizes.
